2012-2013 Course Offerings
(1.) Course Title: Torah and Thai
Dates: Wednesdays, 7:00-9:00 p.m., December 12, January 9, February 13
Instructor: Rabbi Mark
Location/Donation: Soi Gow Thai Noodle House - 1319 9th Avenue (at Irving) / Cost of Dinner
Description: In this class we will nourish body and spirit with a little torah and thai food. The focus will be on the week's Torah portion, with room of course to expand and expound upon other Biblical and Rabbinic topics.
(2.) Course Title: Bagel Nosh and Know - Ethical Wills
Dates: Sundays, 12:30-2:00 p.m., December 16, January 20

Location/Donation: B'nai Emunah / Free
Description: In these two sessions we will explore Jewish ethical wills. Sessions will include reading those of some important Jewish thinkers, as well as a workshop for creating our own personal document. Bagels and coffee served.
(2a.) Course Title: Bagel Nosh and Know

(3.) Course Title: Holy Rollers
Dates: Wednesdays, 7:00-9:00 p.m., December 19, January 23, February 20
Instructor: Rabbi Mark
Location/Donation: B'nai Emunah / Free
Description: This group meets monthly to learn the art and science of Torah maintenance. Participants will get a literal hands on experience, as we get up and close with our Torah scrolls. This is a sort of Jewish "jiffy lube," where we nosh, have a beer and then work together on the sacred task of maintaining our scrolls.
(4.) Course Title: Jewish Holiday Spring Fever
Dates: Sundays, 1:00-3:00 p.m., February 10 and 17 (Book of Esther), March 3 and 17 (Song of Songs), April 7 and 14 (Book of Ruth)
Instructor: Rabbi Mark
Location/Donation: B'nai Emunah / $36 for members of BIJ, BE, NT, or OS - $50 for others
Description: An interactive text-based course delving into the important books that accompany our Spring Holidays of Purim, Passover and Shavuot. We will read and learn together the historical context, selected midrashim and interpretations,and texts of The Book of Esther, The Song of Songs and The Book of Ruth.
(5.) Course Title: Introduction to Judaism
Dates: Wednesdays, 7:00-9:00 p.m., March 6, April 3, May 1, June 5
Instructor: Rabbi Mark
Location/Donation: B'nai Emunah / Free
Description: Explore and find meaning in your Jewish practice and thought, as we take a tour through the holidays, life cycles and pillars of Jewish life.
(6.) Course Title: Individual Spiritual Direction
Dates: By appointment
Instructor: Rabbi Mark
Location/Donation: B'nai Emunah / Free
Description: Have you ever asked, “Where is G-d in my life?” or, “Where do I want to get to in my Jewish or spiritual life?” Rabbi Mark will accompany you on your Jewish journey, meeting you where you are at the present moment, exploring with you, and integrating your life story with the stories of the Jewish people.
Other Ongoing Classes and Events: Mussar Monthly, Book Group, Israeli Dance (last Friday evening of each month following potluck dinner), Shabbat Lunch at the Rabbi's, Havdallah Happy Hour, Foodbank Volunteering
