Confirmation Class

Confirmation Class

Post-b'nai-mitzvah students are offered a Confirmation class, culminating after two or three years in a Confirmation service.

The Confirmation Class provides experiential learning opportunities for 8th, 9th, and 10th graders.  The curriculum for each year is developed by the students in consultation with their teacher to address their particular needs, interests, and questions.  The 2010 class produced Children of Faith, a full length film based on interviews with thirteen members of the synagogue about their experiences in China and Europe during World War II.

In 2011 the Confirmation Class is researching the Jews of Uhersky Brod, Czechoslovakia, whose Torah scroll is encased in lucite on our bimah.

The class is taught by Sharon Bleviss and meets approximately once per month during the school year.

The actual confirmation ceremony takes place on a Saturday morning near Shavuot
